Green Bay Weather

When anyone thinks of Green Bay weather, they usually think of the “Frozen Tundra”. While it is very cold for quite a few months, there are many great things about Green Bay’s weather.

Moving from the Florida heat to the Wisconsin cold took a little getting used to. In Florida, you have to put up with long, very hot summers. In Wisconsin, you have to put up with long, very cold winters. We decided we would rather put up with the cold!

Winter

Ok. It’s true. The winters are VERY cold in Green Bay, Wisconsin. That being said, it really isn’t as bad as you might think. January is the coldest month with the average high of 24 degrees and the average low of 7 degrees. The winters are also very long. However, once it’s cold, you know it is going to stay cold. There are a few times throughout the winter that an extra frigid cold blast comes down from Canada. During those times, you don’t want to go outside too much. The temperature with the wind chill can be dangerous.

The advantage of a very cold winter is the beautiful snow. It is hard to describe the beauty after a wet snowfall. With snow piled up all around and stuck in the trees – there is just nothing else like it!

Spring

Spring in Green Bay is a really pretty time. All of the “dead” plants come back to life with new leaves and flowers. It always amazes us how the plants can survive such a harsh winter and bloom again every spring. The flowering trees and the blooming bulbs are amazing.

The temperatures fluctuate a lot, with nice days and sometimes quite cold nights. It is really a great time of the year.

Summer

When summer comes, new, different flowers bloom. It seems that almost every house in Green Bay takes advantage of this time of year and plants something.

Summer months are warm and can get quite hot. The great thing about summer is that any time you have extremely hot temperatures; you know that they aren’t going to last long. A few times during the summer months you will have some hot, humid days. Most of this time it is just beautiful with warm days and cooler nights. Perfect!

Autumn

Autumn in Green Bay brings the beautiful colors of changing leaves. We never knew there could be such beautiful colors in nature before moving here. The air gets a little cooler. It is a beautiful time of year and it doesn’t seem to last long enough. Before you know it, winter is here.

Don’t think you have to love cold weather to enjoy living in Green Bay. All of the seasons are wonderful and beautiful!
