Living in Green BayAs we found out, living in Green Bay can be very fun and exciting. We did a lot of research on the area before we decided to move. Here is some information for anyone who has lived here or is planning a move to this area.
If you are living in Green Bay now, you will find plenty of local merchants and information for your daily life. If you are thinking about moving to this great city, you will find everything you need to make your move and transition easier. We have included restaurants, hotels and local merchants located in Green Bay as well as in the surround areas. The villages of Ashwaubenon and Allouz, and the City of De Pere are so close to the City of Green Bay that we go to many places in these areas. All are beautiful places to live or visit. SchoolsThe University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) is part of the University of Wisconsin system and is located on the bayshore of Green Bay. It was founded in 1965 and is a four year university that offers a wide varity of degrees. UWGB is the home of the Weidner Center for Performing Arts, which offers many concerts as well as performances by the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra. University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s mascot is the Phoenix. The women’s volleyball and basketball teams play at the Kress Center, which was opened in 2007 and seats about 4,000 people.
The men’s basketball team (UW Green Bay Fighting Phoenix) play at the Resch Center. Green Bay Public Schools – There are 26 elementary, 5 middle and 4 high schools in the Green Bay School District. The four high schools in Green Bay are Southwest, Preble, West and East. Ashwaubenon has one high school and De Pere has two – East and West De Pere. All are very good schools with great statistics. Start Living in Green BayGreen Bay Jobs – Many different jobs are available in Green Bay. There are hospitals, factories, banks and many retail shops. Highways 72, 43 and 41 form and circle around the city that makes getting anywhere a breeze. Here is a map of Green Bay and the surrounding areas to help. Green Bay Weather – A lot of people worry about the weather in Green Bay. Sure it is cold in the winter. But Green Bay has beautiful seasons with wonderful Springs, enjoyable Summers and colorful Autumns. And yes, the winters are amazing also. We love this newspaper because they provide complete, unbiased reporting as well as constant information on the Green Bay Packers! Green Bay Airport – Austin Straubel International Airport is the airport located in Green Bay. It is the 3rd largest airport in the state of Wisconsin. If you are used to flying into large airports like, Chicago or New York, you will find this airport small. We think it is just the right size. The Airport is served by American Eagle, Midwest Connect, Northwest/Airlink/Delta, and United Express. The four destinations that are serviced are Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, and Milwaukee.
Green Bay Churches - There are many churches located in Green Bay and the surrounding areas. The majority seem to be Catholic and Lutheran churches but there are also a lot of Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian and other denominations. Please click here for a complete listing of area Churches. Green Bay Attractions – Here is some information on the attractions that we love and would love to see. You will find information on Bay Beach Amusement Park, Green Bay Botanical Gardens, Wildlife Sanctuary, the NEW Zoo as well as sporting and shopping information. There is always something for everyone to do in Green Bay! Green Bay Entertainment – Many famous entertainers make stops in Green Bay. The Resch Center has many sporting events as wells as concerts and ice shows. The Weidner Center also has many concerts and show.
